Rtn John Frankland picked me up early this evening for the drive over to Woodborough Hall for the 36th Charter Anniversary Dinner of the Rotary Club of Carlton. We were greeted by President David Falkner who proved to be an excellent host. The three course dinner (smoked salmon & crayfish cocktail, pork medallions and scrumptious bread and butter pudding) was delightful, well cooked and efficiently served. There was a great buzz around the room and the company on the top table was second to none.
There then followed the roll call and a traditional set of toasts. The guest speaker was Ian Richards, a comedian and a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats, who entertained us really well for the final half hour.
Many thanks to President David and his team for a great evening and to John Frankland for acting as my driver. Sorry - no photos as I forgot my camera.
