Well, after a day of wall to wall rain, the weather at last was kind to us and the sun came out today for the Rotary Showcase at Kedleston Hall. Underfoot three or four inches of mud was the order of the day but wearing my best green wellies and Gail in a very fetching pair of old trainers we made an appearance for the afternoon.
It was not overly busy on the site, which was hosting a major Antiques Fair, but a fair number of people had braved the conditions to see what was on offer. The District gazebos looked very professional with a Shelter Box tent and Derby Daybreak's "Bric a brac" gazebo alongside.
The showcase was being staffed by a number of Rotarians mainly from the Derby clubs and when I arrived in the early afternoon they had obtained contact details from a number of people who expressed an interest in Rotary. Time will tell if any of these become Rotarians in the future.
My thanks to all those Rotarians helping out at this event in any way. We intend to call in again tomorrow and help with the break down of the gazebos etc.
